Any Manchester United fans paranoid that Jose Mourinho hates Henrikh Mkhitaryan can banish those thoughts after the club’s 4-0 win over Feyenoord in the Europa League last night. The Armenian was handed only his second start of the season and took his chance to impress. Mourinho lavished praise upon the man of the match afterwards.
Speaking to MUTV, Mourinho admitted that Mkhitaryan’s shift gave him a selection headache for the West Ham match: “Mkhitaryan got the reception that he deserved because he played very well. Always improving, improving, improving, improving, until the moment he was really tired.
“That was the time to take him off and to let him come off after a very good performance. It’s important for his confidence. He has to keep adapting and replicate this performance in the Premier League.”
United fans were also very impressed with their out-of-favour star and took to Twitter to sing his praises.
