Jose Mourinho claims ‘powerful’ Schweinsteiger could stay at Manchester United

Has Jose changed his mind?

At the start of the season, it seemed Bastian Schweinsteiger had no future at Manchester United.

Jose Mourinho banished him from the first team, training, the squad photo. You name it, he wasn’t in it.

People were up in arms, with even former club Bayern Munich weighing in on the situation.

Now, when all hope looked lost for the German, Mourinho seems to have handed him a reprieve according to BBC Sport.

The United boss claimed: “Of course he can [stay].

“If you have a contract, you are the powerful one that can decide your future. In January he is the powerful one – and with better feelings than before.

“Everybody was happy because when he was not training he fought against that and managed to do it without injury.

“He had been working for months and I thought it could be a good opportunity for him to play and help us.”

It’s clear how much people love him

You don’t have to be a Manchester United fan to love the player – in fact, loving him seems to be a stipulation of being a football fan.
