Arsenal Top Group A after big win in Basel – Here’s who they could face in the next round

Lucas Perez hat-trick

Arsenal went into their match with Basel knowing that finishing top of their group was out of their hands.

Everything went according to plan for the Gunners who took an early lead, before learning that Ludogorets had done the same against PSG in Paris.

Lucas Perez scored his first Arsenal hat-trick as Arsenal cruised to a 4-1 victory over Basel in their final Group A match in Switzerland.

The summer signing now has 5 goals/assists in two Champions League starts for the club.

Alex Iwobi also chipped in with a goal to seal the win.

Seydou Doumbia pulled one back for the hosts late on but it was a mere consolation.

Arsenal did their job and needed Ludogorets to help them out by denying PSG a victory.

Goals from Virgil Misidjan and Wanderson did just that, despite a very late Angel Di Maria equaliser.

Possible opponents

Arsenal topped their Champions League group for the first time in five seasons.

The Gunners have been unlucky in recent years, drawing the likes of Barcelona and Bayern Munich.

The last time Wenger’s side finished first in their group, they drew Milan in the next round and were eliminated.

As group A winners, the Gunners could face the runners-up of Group B (Benfica), D (Bayern Munich), E (Bayer Leverkusen), F (Real Madrid or Borussia Dortmund), G (Porto or Copenhagen) or H (Sevilla, Lyon or Juventus).

The draw for the round of 16 takes place on Monday morning, with the matches taking place in February.
