The most expensive XI in the world

French magazine France Football and CIES (The CIES Football Observatory) have put together a fascinating XI of the most expensive players in the world.

Despite the fact that Cristiano Ronaldo will win the 2016 Ballon d’Or next Monday, everyone’s favourite Portuguese superstar does not make the most expensive XI based on current transfer value.

According to CIES, the most expensive footballer on the planet in terms of transfer value is Neymar at 250 million euros.

No Ronaldo

Then comes Leo Messi at 190 million euros. Followed by Antoine Griezmann at 135 million euros.

With Ronaldo rated at 130 million euros, the Real Madrid attacker does not make it into the highest market value team, even though they are playing with three players up front.

Six players from La Liga take up the top seven positions – a list of the 50 most valuable players via AS is below.
