With the future of 25-year-old Real Madrid attacking midfielder James Rodriguez looking in doubt, Jose Mourinho has made an enquiry to bring the Colombian to Old Trafford in the summer.
Rodriguez is currently a regular bench warmer after playing second fiddle to Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo under Zinedine Zidane, and has made it clear he wants to get back into first team football either at the Bernabeu or elsewhere.
However, it a move for the Colombian will not come cheap. As reported in The Sun, Real Madrid has demanded a £50m transfer fee to take Rodriguez from the Spanish capital.
While Manchester United are no strangers to spending big, having already spent £142m in the summer, Mourinho would be hard pressed to justify such an outlay on another attacker.
United already possess Paul Pogba, Juan Mata, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Wayne Rooney, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford, who have all filled the role behind Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
The 25-year-old has featured 16 times and scored twice for Los Blancos this season, as Zinedine Zidane looks to keep the winning formula ongoing as his side look to go six points clear on top of the La Liga table.
Although with Manchester United, Chelsea, Juventus, Inter and AC Milan monitoring the situation, it looks more than likely we could see a big money transfer for the Colombian come the summer.
